The Minnesota Wild is still trying to obtain a top-six forward and GM Chuck Fletcher has been exploring the trade market and the free agent market.
One player the Wild seem to have set its sights on is unrestricted free agent left wing Alex Tanguay, who made $5.375 million last season with the Montreal Canadiens.
Tanguay, who recently switched agents and is now represented by Steve Kotlowitz, is being courted by both a number of teams, including the Minnesota and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 29-year-old confirmed the Wild and the Lightning's interest this past weekend to the Montreal La Presse.
"There are some offers on the table and yes, we've spoken with the Wild and the Lightning," Tanguay said.
It's uncertain when Tanguay will make a decision.
The native of Ste-Justine, Quebec, was limited to 50 games with the Canadiens last season, due to injuries, and tallied 16 goals and 25 assists. www.thefourthperiod.com/news/min090810.html
